As always, Bobbi Waters did an outstanding job teaching local residents about the “Benefits of Composting” at Pinecone Perennials.
Bobbi is the Planner and Community Outreach Coordinator for the Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEP) for Carteret, Craven, and Pamlico Counties.
Last year, Bobbi gave me the grand tour of CEP’s Tuscarora Landfill and I learned all about composting and wrote about it here. Buy it "Dirt Cheap" at $30 per ton or a minimum of $1! Where else can you get high quality compost for that amount of money...the best part - it's all recycled yard clippings!
I also had the opportunity to meet Wendy Graveman, co-owner of Pinecone Perennials, and learn more about this beautiful nursery. Wendy and Bob Graveman work year round in their greenhouses and farm in Ft. Barnwell to produce local plants, flowers, trees, and more.

Thanks, Bobbi, for spreading the word about CEP’s recycling efforts to enhance our community!
Special thanks to Laura Johnson for taking photos and helping New Bern Now during the lecture and Wendy Graveman for providing a special venue for this fun and educational presentation!

Love it Bobbie!!!! Composting is great fun. I love making dirt food for worms... and my garden flowers thrive!
ReplyDeleteWe use the Tuscarora compost regularly and it's great. It's clean and inexpensive and it's another form of recycling. This year we filled our raised garden beds with their compost, composted manure from a New Bern farm, our homemade compost made from kitchen waste, grass clippings and sifted soil. Looking forward to a bountiful harvest.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anonymous, and Dona, for commenting about this fine compost! Bobbi and the CEP Team does a great job! - Wendy
