I’ve never seen a live “flash mob” until this afternoon at the corner of Broad and Craven Streets, Downtown New Bern during MUMFEST.
Although the cat was out of the bag to some locals yesterday, a lot of people were very surprised to see the three minute dance segment of approximately 50 performers.
Special thanks to Choreographer Kristi Ray for organizing this entertaining event! I heard everyone put a lot of effort and hard work into rehearsing. Mike Lewis with the New Bern Civic Theatre did a great job as the sound designer for the event.
Thanks to Michaele’ Rose Watson for giving me the inside scoop so I could be there to video the performance and arrange to get a ladder from Mandi and Oogie Johnson of Johnson Custom Homes. I couldn’t have filmed it without the help of John, Michaele’s husband holding the ladder!
This is only one of numerous MUMFEST performances. Stay tuned for more! There wasn’t enough time in the day to capture them all today unless I had a team of people with video cameras.
Please feel free to send any links to videos that you captured today and I’d be happy to share the links on New Bern Now. Be sure to send me your name, title, and any contact information that you’d like to be posted as credits.
For vendors and non-profit agencies that had your pictures taken today, please be patient, as I will upload all the MUMFEST photos to New Bern Now’s Photo Gallery as soon as possible.
I hope you had as much fun as we did today! I’ve never seen this many people in Downtown New Bern.
Great job, Susan Moffat-Thomas and Danielle Glynn of Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corporation for all your hard work. I’d also like to thank Swiss Bear’s Board of Directors, the City of New Bern, Swiss Bear Volunteers, Vendors, and everyone else who made the 1st day of MUMFEST a huge success! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow has to bring!
