With the 300th Celebration still in full swing, New Bern offers yet another festival for family and friends of all ages to enjoy. The 1st annual aamifam (All American Inclusive Family) Festival is to be held in the aamifam Festival grounds on the corner of First and Broad St.
The Opening Ceremony will begin at 9 AM on July 31st on the steps of City Hall. Following the ceremony will be a Unity March to the aamifam Festival grounds. Pastor Johnson of Ebenezer Presbyterian and Dr. Fitzgerald of First Baptist Church will be two of our keynote speakers. Rep. Alice Underhill as well as Alderman Bengel will be in attendance and giving speeches and or comments regarding all the efforts being done to keep New Bern progressive for the next 300 years.
This festival will celebrate New Bern’s own rich history and cultural heritage with an array of many civic demonstrations and re-enactments. The purpose of creating such an event is to bring all citizens of New Bern together by taking the official 300 oath. The 300 oath was created by the aamifam Organization, to promote brotherhood, peace, and good will towards all citizens of New Bern. Meanwhile local vendors will be providing refreshments and various commodities. There will also be musical performances by Mariachi Charros de Mexico Band, Mac and Tammy McRoy Band and Secret Agent Band plus historical re-enactments by US Colored Troops, Tryon Palace and the Tuscarora Tribe of Williamston. Bern E. Bear will make a special appearance giving out door prizes from the Carolina Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes. The very talented Benita Simmons and New Bern’s very own The Watch Men will bring the distinctive insight to an already eclectic event.
