
New Bern's Fourth of July "Road to Independence" weekend activities are going to be a grand time had by all, especially with three unique events that will put a special spin on this year’s celebration! Linda Staunch and Nelson McDaniel of New Bern's 300th Committee spearheaded today's news conference about the Fourth of July weekend events.
Tommy Moore will attempt a Guinness World Record Event, Jackie Gore (formerly of The Embers) and the Legends of the Beach will perform live music, and Hubie Tolson and World renowned members of the New Bern Air Show will perform a Twilight Acrobatic Air Show over the Neuse River.
Friday – July 2: The Revolutionary Heritage Walking Tour
6:00pm – Tryon Palace Theater - Making of the State - First Provincial Congress - Fee: Adults $4, children $2, Free to Council of Friends and to ticket holders
Saturday – July 3: Walking Tour
9:00am - 2:00pm - Tryon Palace - Celebration of the Declaration of Independence and free garden admission
11:00am - Tryon Palace - Fife and Drum concert and Reading of the Declaration of Independence - Free to the public
4:30pm - 6:30pm - Union Point Park - Concert featuring the Peace and Love Band; R&B and Funk music
7:00pm - 9:00pm - Union Point Park - Concert featuring Jackie Gore and The Legends of the Beach
Sunday - July 4:
8:00am - 10:00am - Vendors set up
11:00-12:00 - Police sweep of the park; no one in park at this time
12:30pm - Ringing of the church bells. Union Point Park opens to public
