Sometimes things are not what they seem - or are they? This question underscores David Mamet's gripping play Oleanna. A college professor and his student meet to discuss a mid-term grade. As the meeting progresses, it becomes clear that this meeting has stakes much higher than just grades. And an innocent discussion between teacher and student turns into a dangerous struggle for power and control.

Oleanna is a two-character play that explores communication - and miscommunication - between individuals, while probing social mores and acceptable behavior. In the end, audiences are left to consider whether the characters have acted appropriately, whether they were genuine in their motivations, and ultimately, what happened.

David Mamet is an award winning playwright who received a Pulitzer Prize, and a Tony nomination for Glengarry Glen Ross (1984). Speed-the-Plow (1988), also received a Tony nomination. As a screenwriter, he received Oscar nominations for The Verdict (1982) and Wag the Dog (1997).

Oleanna is directed by Ratio Managing Partner and Co-Founder Alan Berger. Alan recently directed 1776 for New Bern Civic Theatre. He also directed Ratio's first production Art and appeared in last season's Proof.

Playing the role of John is Ratio veteran Michael McGinn (Locally- The Fantasticks, Tally's Folly, 1776, and Ratio's Art)and playing Carol is Emily Klingman (Ratio's Agnes Of God, Horn In The West, Suburbia, and Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice)
