Sanuki Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar Now Open!
Update August 12th: Enjoyed a terrific lunch at Sanuki and learned the restaurant is owned by the same owners as Mushashi Japanese Steak and Seafood Restaurant in the Harris Teeter Shopping Center in New Bern.
Last week I overheard someone mention Sanuki Japanese Restaurant opening soon in New Bern, but I didn’t know where it was until I drove by it today on Neuse Boulevard.
Of course, I turned around and headed back to check it out. I would’ve written about my lunch encounter, but already ate by that time.
Upon entering Sanuki, I was pleasantly surprised by the transformation into a genuine Japanese style eatery. I felt like I was in Japan again as the sushi bar and dining areas resonated with Japanese décor, relaxing ambiance, and welcoming staff.
I didn’t have time to review their entire lunch and dinner menu, but took the “take-out menu” to see a snap shot of what food they provide. I’ll definitely be back to order from the full Sushi menu and try their Gyoza, Edamame, Yakitori, Tempura’s, Hibatchi style lunch and dinners, Pad Thai and Singapore noodles, Yakisoba, Vietnamese egg rolls, and Chinese Shumai, to name a few of their many menu selections.
I had a good idea that this is an “authentic” Japanese restaurant when I noticed Kanji labeled sake bottles and Kirin, Asahi, and Sapporo beer in the refrigerator. They also provide domestic and imported beer and wine along with alcohol free beverages.
Sanuki Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar is located at 2311 Neuse Boulevard in New Bern next to Dunkin’ Donuts (where El Taco Loco used to be). They’re open for Lunch Monday - Sunday from 11am - 2:30pm and Dinner from 4pm - 9pm. For more information, please call them at 252-514-0459.
I look forward to returning to enjoy a taste of Japan and other International Asian foods, especially the sushi!
