Virtual Tour of the Tuscarora Landfill

The Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEP) is doing great things at the Tuscarora Landfill in Craven County!

It's much more than a place where trash is dumped.

They turn yard waste into compost and mulch. You can buy some "dirt cheap" for only $30 a ton!

CEP's partnership with Ingenco turns landfill gas into electricity!

The CEP Team led by Allen Hardison recently began work on a new landfill cell.

As of July 1st, it will be illegal to discard electronics into the garbage.

Learn more by contacting Bobbi Waters, Outreach Coordinator, for an interesting tour! Call 252-633-1564, check out their blog: http://coastalenviron.blogspot.com/ and website: http://www.coastalenvironmentalpartnership.com/, or visit them on Old US 70 (take the Tuscarora Exit on US 70 and turn left).

Thanks Bobbi and Allen for taking the time to give us a tour. We were joined by the New Bern Yacht Club and the Twin Rivers Outdoorsman's Club.
